We have been working the entire 6 months on the boat. it looks amazing! The cabins all are upgraded with new mattresses, headboards, fresh water tanks in all 4 cabins now.
All new cushions, bean bag chairs, bolster pillows on the nets and a new day bed on the side of the cockpit to sleep! Many new electrical items added as well. Too many to list and we are thrilled to be going back and chartering with new and return guests.
So as excited as we are to be heading back in less than 3 weeks, the USVI has been wide open with covid testing and face mask requirements in place. The BVI has announced this past week much stronger restrictions. This is what the Government is requiring: BVI gateway traveler authorization certificate online. Register with BVI. Have a negative Covid test within the 5 days prior to arriving. Once you are in the BVI you have another PCR test. Travelers will be required to have installed the contact tracing software on their mobile phones or wear a bracelet to some selected pp at BVI choosing. For the first 4 days travelers would be required to remain within the compound of their accommodation and avoid or minimize contact with others outside of their party as well as to keep their movements to a minimum. On the 4th day, the traveler would be required to take another PCR test. Once the results is negative, they would be allowed restricted movement to designated places. These would be locations that are not high traffic or high risk. A final PCR test would be administered on day 8 and once this test also returns negative the traveler would be able to move within the territory without limitations. All these tests are at the travelers expense. So on a 7 night Charter...Day 8 is when you can have freedom to enjoy your vacation?
To say we are disappointed in how the Governor is handling this situation is heartbreaking. The islanders are crying out to open and he is standing alone in his decision. We all want to be safe but tracking pp???? This may change any day considering no one wants to be quarantined 4 out of the 8 day vacation.
We are going to add St Croix to our destinations staying just inside the USVI. You are able to fly into St Thomas & St Croix. then head over to St John. We have not offered St Croix and it is a day sail there. Incredible place to visit! The largest island in the USVI. Rent a car and travel the entire island in one day.
Another option is heading over to St Martin chartering to surrounding islands. St Barts, Antigua, working our way to Grenada by next summer. We will be chartering in Grenada next season! Our favorite place in the world is the Tobago Cays, which is a day sail away from Grenada or second favorite island.
Our path is to head south for now and go where the islands are open still being safe! We take all the precautions to do that and will continue for the safety of ourselves as well as our guests. It's been a crazy time here in the U.S. with the elections and all and can't wait to anchor out in the peaceful bays, beautiful sunsets and warm breezes we are accustomed to. Island life is the BEST. We hope to meet new guests and looking forward to the ones we know!
